Card of the day – Justice

justice

XI Justice

Positive: Fairness. Clarity. Impartiality. Law & Order.
Negative: Fickle. Bias. Indecision. Red Tape.
Element: Air.
Astrology: Libra.
Qabalah: Lamed (Ox Goad)
Archetypes: Karma. Avenger. Mediator.
Herbs: Dill, Garlic, Honeysuckle, Violet.
Crystal: Cat’s Eye, Jet.

Introduction: Justice deals with the idea of karma and the law of cause and effect, stating that all events, and all people, are connected. It’s important to remember that not everything you are dealing with, however, is a direct result of your own actions or karma. Sometimes you will be called upon to deal with the results of the actions of someone you care about, and this can sometimes be as difficult and demanding as it is when you’re up against something that is completely of your own making. Don’t blame yourself unnecessarily.
General: This card evokes the need for fairness, balance, and harmony. Operate in as balanced and reasonable a fashion as you can. This includes in how you think about and treat yourself. If you are directly involved with a court case, it is likely to be resolved, at least in large degree, in your favor.
Work: You need to be sure that your work/life balance is where it needs to be. Too much emphasis on either throws the other into balance. For most people, one or the other comes more easily to us; be sure that regardless of which field (personal life or work) you feel most comfortable in, that you are giving the other part of life as much attention and energy. Balance is necessary in order to thrive.
Love: If you are questioning whether you and your long-term partner are likely to stay together, often when this card appears, the answer is that you are likely to choose to go your separate ways. On the other hand, if you are single, this is a time when commitment may be coming your way very shortly. Stay clear about what you most want from relationships, and you are likely to “find it” that much sooner.
Finances: This is a good time for games of chance. Very often, when this card appears in the context of money, it can mean that a (usually fairly small) “windfall” is coming your way. Even if you don’t gamble in any way, money that you weren’t expecting can show up now. That’s always a good thing. Use it wisely.
Health: It’s important to “stay in the moment” and, once again, to pay attention to how you are (or are not) keeping a sense of balance in your life. Moderation is not just for monks, it’s an important part of living a sensible and healthy life. Consider how you might be “out of balance” – particularly if you have a health challenge now and remedy the situation. You have the power to do so.
Spirituality: This is a time to work on being grounded. Do you feel as though you are connected to the earth and your fellow man? Can you be “in the world” but not “of the world?” Balance again is the theme here. Working on keeping the proper perspective about life will help you to stay centered.

Justice Reversed

Introduction: Whether reversed or upright, Justice deals with the idea of karma and the law of cause and effect, stating that all events, and all people, are connected. Not everything you are dealing with, however, is a direct result of your own actions or karma. Sometimes you will be called upon to deal with the results of the actions of someone you care about, and this can sometimes be as difficult and demanding as it is when you’re up against something that is completely of your own making. In reversal you are especially encouraged to know whether a given issue is “yours” or someone else’s. Don’t blame yourself unnecessarily.
General: In reverse, this card can mean that you are feeling currently as though something happening in your life is particularly unjust. You may well be correct. However, there may not be a great deal that you can do about it, and if there is not, it will be important to accept reality and not chafe too much.
Work: When Justice comes up in reverse in the context of a work question, you may indeed be being treated unfairly in your workplace. However, there may not be a great deal which you can do to change this in the short term. Think critically and logically about what is happening and do not allow emotion to make you “cut off your nose to spite your face.” Even when reversed, this card carries the warning that you need to be sure that your work/life balance is where it needs to be. Too much emphasis on either aspect of life throws the other into imbalance. Seek the best advice you can find before making any major changes with regard to your working life. Yes, things may be unjust. However the solution may be of longer term than simply leaving or creating a confrontation about it. Slow down.
Love: When you draw Justice in reverse, in the context of a love relationship, it can be very important that you look carefully at exactly what you are bringing about in this relationship. You may feel that you have been treated unfairly when this card appears (and this may be the case,) however it’s important to bear in mind that such things rarely come about in a vacuum. How might you have contributed to the current situation or current difficulties, if you are currently in a relationship? When you draw this card in reverse and you are looking for love, know that although you may feel as though you are ready for a long-term, loving relationship, that there may be ways in which you are standing in your own way to prevent love from coming to you. For example, if you are too eager to make changes to your own life, in order to “fit” with a partner, you may in fact need to develop stronger boundaries and a stronger sense of self before a true, loving, long term relationship will come about for you. Meditation on these matters can be helpful now.
Health: Even when Justice is drawn in reversal, in the context of health, we are reminded that it is important to “stay in the moment” and to pay attention to how we are endeavoring to keep a sense of balance in our lives. Moderation is not just for monks, it’s an important part of living a sensible and healthy life. This is a good and an important time to seek advice from more experienced people and different healers if you are having health difficulties.
Finances: With Justice in reverse showing, this is unlikely to be a good time for gambling. Be cautious and prudent with your money, and see to it that particularly with cash, you are careful where you put it and who has access to it. If you are waiting on an answer to financial issues and questions that must come from someone else/an institution, unfortunately you my have to wait a while longer. Try to be patient.
Spirituality: Regardless of what is going on in your life and even if you feel that you have been absolutely unfairly treated, this is a time to work on being centered and grounded. Your anger and sense of maltreatment are not going to help you. If you are really having a tough time dealing with what life has challenged you with now, you may find the writings of the current Dalai Lama very helpful and inspirational. Increase your compassion, for yourself, and for the world. You are not being singled out for torment.

Onion Syrup

First I would like to talk about what onion syrup does: coughs and colds. Onion itself is anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory. It is not a cough suppressant as often described but it reduces the frequency and intensity of spasmodic and insistent lingering coughs. Personally I also feel like it warms and opens the pores to get the sickness out.

Cover sliced onions with honey in a bowl. I used half an onion and it was plenty! Let it sit in a warm environment for about 4 hours, stirring here and there. Over time you will see that the juices of the onion are coming out and mixing with the honey.

This is my onion stuff after 5-6 hours. I strained the onions and put the syrup in a glass jar and put it in the fridge. It will last about 5 days in there. That is why it’s important not to make too much!
You can also add garlic and/or ginger for an extra kick. If mixed with cayenne pepper it will help clear mucus.

You can take a sip of the syrup as needed. I felt fairly warm right after and I can imagine it’s a good idea to go to sleep and sweat the cold out. The syrup tastes sweet with an onion kick.

The leftover onions can be used for a nice bake or fry. I haven’t tried them yet. Just know they are sweet and not as spicy as they were originally.

Please let me know if you have more questions. I have a whole handout here about cold remedies and I would love to share these remedies with people interested!

Back?!

Wow, this year is flying! And a lot has changed. It’s also time to change the theme around here a bit, sorta like sweeping the dust and changing the energy.
Next week I will start school in NYC to study Herbalism. Over the past few months it has become very clear that my path is the one that involves my little friends from the garden and the knowledge I gained already as a Medical Assistant. That means I may write about it here.
Another big topic I would like to focus on is my snail mail hobby. I have been writing letters since I was 8 and although I took breaks sometimes, I do come back to it. I just started looking for a few more penpals and I will post about that as well.
The tarot chapter is on hold but not forgotten. I am hoping to get more busy here again, and thinking if I do add my herbal studies here I will.
I would like to see this wordpress as a collection of the knowledge I gain and some other things like penpalling, crafting, or whatever tickles my fancy. Future posts will be also posted on my tumblr as I did with the tarot cards.
Have a great start into the week!

Update 3/7/2017

Yes, I know. I am not the most active one here but I promise, I update when I can. I love working on a little side project like this but there is also a life outside this boxed cage (aka the internet).
Besides working on Tarot, I want to start on gemstones and music (yes, music!). This will obviously take time, so please bare with me. I still haven’t figured out yet how to organize everything, especially if I need an alphabetical table and such.
As to the music: I believe music is magic (think frequencies).
Anyhow, thanks for following me. I do notice 🙂
